Free Interview AI Assistant: 10 Best Tools Tested 2026

Quick answer: CrackInterviewAI is a free download for Windows 10/11, and new accounts get 15 free minutes to test voice, typed and screenshot questions; paid India base packs start at Rs 99 for 30 minutes. ParakeetAI offers a 10-minute free session, and Final Round AI's free plan covers preparation tools but not live copilot sessions. Free allowances for ParakeetAI and Final Round AI were re-checked on their official pricing pages on 3 October 2026; the other entries reflect our May 2026 review, so confirm current limits before relying on them.

Free interview AI assistant tools exploded in 2024 and matured in 2026. Today, candidates have real options: completely free open-source tools, freemium products with usable free trials, and pay-per-interview tools where the first session is free. This guide ranks the 10 best free interview AI assistants for 2026 based on actual hands-on testing.

What "free" actually means matters. Some tools call themselves free but cap usage at 10 minutes. Others give you 30 free credits. Some are forever-free open source. Some let you download a desktop app and test it with a short free allowance before paying. We rank by total free value, not marketing claims.

Each tool is evaluated on free trial limits, features in the free tier, platform support (Windows, macOS, web, Chrome extension), language support, and fit for Indian candidates. No tool is universally best; pick the one that matches your interview pipeline.

1. CrackInterviewAI — free download and 15 free minutes

CrackInterviewAI is a Windows 10/11 AI interview assistant with a completely free download and 15 free minutes for a new account. After that, prepaid pricing starts at 99 INR for 30 minutes or 299 INR for three hours. No monthly subscription is required.

Free tier value: free download, free profile setup with resume, role and job description, and 15 free minutes that cover live transcription, typed questions and screenshot mode. Built specifically for Indian candidates with English and Hindi support.

Best fit: Indian candidates running 1-3 interviews this month who want to test before committing. Windows 10/11 users. Anyone wanting a no-subscription model. Pay only when you have an actual interview lined up.

Limitations: Windows-only (no macOS or web app today). No mock interview workflow. Coaching features are minimal compared to Final Round AI.

2. ParakeetAI — 10-minute free session

ParakeetAI's pricing page, checked on 3 October 2026, offered a 10-minute free session (or a free first mock interview) with no credit card. Paid use runs on credits, where half a credit covers a 30-minute call session and 3 credits cost Rs 3,690, or on Unlimited passes from Rs 4,980 per week.

Free tier value: a 10-minute session to test automatic question detection and answer generation. It lists Windows and macOS desktop apps, Chrome support and 50+ languages.

Best fit: candidates who need macOS or browser support or a language other than English and Hindi, and who are comfortable with credit pricing.

Limitations: 10 minutes is too short for a full mock round, and credit prices are high for a single interview compared with INR time packs. See our Parakeet AI alternative page for the numbers.

3. LockedIn AI — 10 minutes of free live help

LockedIn AI's pricing page, checked on 3 October 2026, listed a free plan with 10 minutes of live interview help, real-time answers and no credit card. Paid Credits and Unlimited plans cover longer use; check the amounts in your currency.

Free tier value: a 10-minute live test. It runs as a web app, Chrome extension or desktop app.

Best fit: candidates with heavy coding interview pipelines (FAANG, top product startups in India and globally) who want to test premium features before paying.

Limitations: 10 minutes covers only a few questions, and plan prices were not visible in the page text we could read.

4. Live Interview AI — free plan listed

Live Interview AI lists a free plan on its website. We could not confirm the exact free-plan limits from its public pages on 3 October 2026, so check them before relying on it.

Free tier value: a free plan to test its live interview copilot; limits not confirmed.

Best fit: candidates who want one more option to compare on the same practice questions.

Limitations: check the current free-plan limits on its site before an interview.

5. Interviews.chat — 30 free credits, no credit card

Interviews.chat's pricing page, checked on 3 October 2026, offered 30 free credits with no credit card required. One credit equals one Copilot suggestion or one minute of Copilot.

Free tier value: 30 suggestions or 30 minutes of Copilot, enough for a short practice call.

Best fit: candidates running multiple short sessions across different interview types (behavioural, coding, technical) to evaluate the tool.

Limitations: credits run out faster than expected if you have long interview rounds. After credits exhaust, paid plan kicks in.

6. Final Round AI — free plan with paid tiers

Final Round AI is one of the best-known AI interview platforms. Its pricing page, checked on 3 October 2026, listed a free plan for preparation and a Pro plan from $25 a month; it states there is no free trial for live sessions, which need an active Pro subscription.

Free tier value: preparation goals with your resume and materials, job-description parsing, a prep checklist and the desktop app. Live Interview Copilot sessions and practice interviews are Pro features.

Best fit: candidates running many interviews per month and wanting access to a polished mock interview suite. The brand recognition helps if you want to mention "I prepped with Final Round AI" in conversations.

Limitations: monthly subscription cost converts to higher INR than pay-per-interview alternatives. Some features overkill for IT services campus drives.

7. Beyz AI — free trial with personalization

Beyz AI is a real-time interview assistant with a free trial that includes instant response generation and personalized prep. The UI is polished and onboarding is fast.

Free tier value: trial access to real-time response, basic personalization with profile setup, and mock interview workflow. Subscription unlocks advanced features.

Best fit: candidates who value UI polish and quick onboarding for testing different tools side by side.

Limitations: trial is time-limited. Smaller user base than Final Round AI or LockedIn AI.

8. Interview Sidekick — free tier, paid subscription

Interview Sidekick's pricing page, checked on 3 October 2026, offered a free tier with limited interview prep sessions, limited question-bank access and basic prep insights, with no credit card. The paid Ultimate Sidekick plan is a card-billed subscription you can cancel anytime. See our Interview Sidekick comparison.

Free tier value: limited AI prep sessions and question-bank access. Unlimited sessions and the full 10,000+ question bank need Ultimate Sidekick.

Best fit: candidates who mainly want AI mock practice and a large question bank.

Limitations: less mature than Final Round AI. Fewer prep features outside the live interview moment.

9. JobLander — free monthly minutes in Chrome

JobLander is an AI interview copilot delivered as a Chrome extension. Its Chrome Web Store listing, checked on 3 October 2026, offered 40 free minutes per month, with more minutes available to buy and no subscription. It works as an overlay in browser tabs with audio, such as Google Meet, Zoom and Teams.

Free tier value: 40 minutes per month of real-time hints during browser-based interviews.

Best fit: candidates whose interviews run entirely in the browser.

Limitations: Chrome only (no Windows 11 app). No screenshot mode for coding interviews on platforms outside the browser. Smaller feature set than paid alternatives.

10. Natively (open source) — free forever, self-hosted

Natively is a free, source-available AI interview copilot on GitHub, free for personal and non-commercial use. Its repository describes real-time transcription, local processing and bring-your-own-key setup with no subscription.

Free tier value: completely free, but you bring your own API key from an AI provider. Self-hosted means privacy is fully under your control.

Best fit: privacy-focused engineers comfortable with Python and self-hosting. Anyone who has been concerned about audio data being processed by third-party cloud services.

Limitations: requires technical setup. No support team. UI is less polished than commercial alternatives.

Honest verdict: which free interview AI assistant should you pick?

Pick CrackInterviewAI if: you are based in India, you want a Windows 10/11 app, you prefer pay-per-interview over monthly subscription, and you only have a few interviews coming up.

Pick ParakeetAI if: you need macOS or browser support or many languages, and prefer credits or an unlimited pass.

Pick LockedIn AI if: you have a heavy coding interview pipeline and want code-specific assistance.

Pick JobLander if: your interviews run in Chrome and 40 free minutes a month is enough.

Pick Natively if: you are privacy-focused and comfortable with self-hosting an open-source tool.

Pick Final Round AI if: you have budget for a monthly subscription and want the most mature mock interview suite.

Avoid trials with credit card requirement if you only have one interview coming up. Most candidates forget to cancel and end up paying for a month they did not need.
